8th edition of the International Violin Competition.
Sofia will host The Eighth Edition of The International Violin Competition “Vasko Abadjiev” from November 20th to 23rd, 2025. The event is held on the eve of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Vasko Abadjiev, which will be celebrated in early 2026.
Vasko Abadjiev (1926-1978) is an exceptional, but unfortunately forgotten Bulgarian violinist whose virtuoso talent and artistry rank him among Bulgaria’s greatest musicians.
Despite his short life, he left a deep mark on musical art with his impressive performances and international recognition.
In the current edition of the competition, the prize fund has been doubled, and the following cash prizes will be awarded:
- First Prize: 3000 EUR
- Second Prize: 2000 EUR
- Third Prize: 1000 EUR
- “Young Talent” Award: 500 EUR
A prestigious international jury will evaluate the participants:

The competition is open to violinists from all over the world aged under 30 on the starting date of the event.
We expect talented young musicians to join the competition for the prestigious awards and opportunities, as well as to honour the memory and musical legacy of the great Vasko Abadjiev.
